Your story reminds me of when I went to an African American clothing store in Georgia with my friend, all the African Americans clerks working there were sneering and laughing at me, making side comments to one another.
Clearly, I had no business being there, since I was white and dressed in a conservative suit and tie (on my lunch break), while my friend looked for some Friday night apparel. This happened 20 years ago. I guess in your world it is okay if you are doing the sneering (as you often do) rather than if you are the target of sneering.
Tribalism has been around since ancient times, it is not new or unusual. Sadly, in the US, when our country needs to downplay tribalism in order to minimize violence, our politicians emphasize tribalism in order to secure votes.
Interestingly, your wife seems to reject the kind of tribalism that you so often promote. Good for her. Look at your past articles and see how often you promote tribalism with a narrative of us against them.
