Your premise is false and as a result your conclusion is. Because men are much less willing to admit to being victims of DV, we really don't know how often they are abused (see link at bottom). We do know the number of reported cases is rising.

But even then, we don't know if the frequency is increasing or simply men are more willing to report DV. It also means using "reported cases" as a proxy of actual cases is not an accurate gauge of frequency.

If you want to say that women report more DV than men, that is true. But you can't extrapolate that to mean men are more inclined to commit DV, but perhaps it means men are in a position to commit DV more often. That is an important distinction.

I did not say the frequency of abuse was "equal"... we simply do not know how frequently it occurs. What I said is abuse is a human behavior, since both male and females do it. And the underlying triggers of abusive behavior reside in men and women. Though it might be fair to say, women were not in a position to "act" on their feelings.

Research is beginning to uncover how women express abuse and it appears to be different. Men may be more inclined to physical abuse and women mental abuse, though we need to study this more.

I first observed "abusive" behavior by women in the workplace decades ago as they rose to "power" positions in companies. I am not suggesting women were more abusive as managers than men, only that both men and women were capable of abusing their staff and did so proportionately.

It is silly to assume that if women abuse others in the workplace, that they don't at home. In the workplace, it is easier to spot abusive male managers because they are more overt, women have learned how to better mask their aggression. But times are changing, I suspect we will see an increase in abusive behaviors in the future based on things I see happening in our society.
