We agree on this one for the most part. There are "great men" who leave a lasting impact on history for their genius. But far more often "history" makes the man, more than "the man" make history.

Democrats have tried to paint Trump as some great evil, but in fact, the real struggle in America has been the revolt of citizens against "the elite".

The progressive movement is largely a movement headed by the elite who control the wealth, media, and levers of power in much of the country. Historically, the wealthy have corrupted or owned academia and government, who have served the wealthy by providing justification of their "nobility" and execution of their vision.

Only the wealthy and powerful think of themselves as being able to impose orthodoxy on an entire society. Most people simply want their own personal freedom to pursue "happiness".

While for now Trump is the leader of this populist movement, I expect regardless of what happens this November, when Trump moves on a new "leader" will rise to lead the parade.

This struggle will continue until either the people pry loose the concentration of power that federalism offers the elite, who want to use that power to shape society as they view it should operate or "the people" will eventually loosen the grip of power and distribute it to the states and communities, where democracy has a better chance of working.
