Trump will be remembered as a "tragic" hero. He pushed through a vaccine in record time that saved millions of people worldwide.
For conservatives he put a Supreme Court in place that rejected judicial activism, has rejected "Agency" activism through regulation, and even activism by the President of the US through executive orders. This is the first step towards hopefully getting Congress to stop holding kangaroo courts and get back to hashing out bipartisan compromise legislation. Whether Congress can remember how legislation is supposed to work remains to be seen.
Trump is also the President that will be seen in history as the turning America away from globalism towards a more protectionist and isolationist posture.
He will also be remembered as the person that transformed the GOP from the party of rich old white guys to the party of the wage worker, small business owner, and farmer.
He identified the insidious expansion of power by beltway bureaucrats and launched what will be a decade or longer struggle between those who embrace classical liberalism and those who embrace a form of 19th Marxism.
Trump will also be remembered as a bully, womanizer, braggart, and overall obnoxious individual that failed the "works well with others" requirement of politics. You can lie and steal as Biden is proving, but don't piss off the media and call it "fake news".
And so, the GOP is ready to move on. Its new leaders will be men and women who embrace Trump's policies, but not his character. And those policies are pretty popular with the majority of Americans.
