To treat Palestinians as "human", they must recognize the victims of October 7th as human and pursue those responsible as if the people killed were fellow Palestinians, not Jews.

When any group celebrates violence against innocent members of another group, then they become complicit in dehumanizing their fellow humans and in the process dehumanize themselves.

Once they do that, it becomes their obligation to restore their humanity by recognizing the humanity of others. To accomplish that, they must aid Israel to recover all of the humans seized by Hamas, bring the perpetrators to justice including those leaders that authorized the attack, and secure from the Palestinian people a condemnation of October 7th.

In doing so they restore their humanity, by condemning the inhumane treatment of Hamas towards other humans. Israel is not responsible for dehumanizing Palestinians, Hamas is.

The concept that committing an act of terrorism is an action that by its very action dehumanizes those responsible is an important concept that seems to have escaped many.
