To call Israel's attack on Gaza genocide is an insult to the victims around the world of genocide. Genocide entails the systemic attempt by one group to exterminate another identity group. There are over 2 million Palestinians living in Israel, many of whom volunteer to serve in the Israeli army.

One can make the case, that many innocent Palestinians have died in the war, that is always true. Less clear given how muddled the Palestinian reporting has been how many innocent citizens vs enemy combatants have died. As far as wars go, estimates of Palestinian civilian deaths are low (still tragic) and not indicative of genocide. Similarly, while food supplies are tight, pictures taken of the war show the tragedy of war, but not the normal indicators of genocide. Instead, the pictures of the victims of October 7th are more indicative of genocide.

War is a horrible thing. When the Palestinians turn over all of the remaining hostages, surrender the leaders of Hamas, and disarm the remaining members of Hamas, then I will join in calling for an end to war and the rebuilding of Gaza, but this time with strict controls to prevent a new terrorist group from forming among the Palestinians and inevitable cost such terrorist groups cause to those who shelter them intentionally or against their will.
