"They are objective observations of a system literally built on systemic racist structures that still have an effect on life in this country today."

These statements presented as facts are opinions. They are hard to support in light of the fact that the "system" does not favor whites when applying to college, when applying for jobs, or in host of other areas.

What is true is that "race" has been used to sell an ideology more closely tied to economic class. Pretty clear the majority of the country opposes socialism but when you wrap in the blanket of racism and "equity", people gravitate to it.

As a white male who married an Asian and whose white son married an African woman, the author must be predisposing that either I did not realize the disadvantage I was putting my grandchildren at or I was selfish and didn't care to give my descendants a fighting chance. The truth is that while I didn't care what their skin color was, I was cognizant based on my career experience that it would serve them well.

While the author seems unable to separate race from economic class or the sins of the past with the reality of the present, my grandchildren have no problem doing so. When my African American granddaughter was asked why she thought good colleges would give her preferential treatment, she responded "black privilege". I hope she is wrong, I hope she is treated equally, but for now she is right.
