The world is learning the hard way what happens when you surrender too much power to government in expectation that they will take care of you. Government is the loving "parent", they promise in their political ads... at some level it abuses "its children" and then tries to tell them someone else is to blame.

My mom grew up in fascist Germany, Hitler promised like the Progressive Democrats that if the government gave him the power, he would build back Germany better! Where have we heard that before!
