The problem with your piece is American language is one massive theft of language from around the world. Should we not speak English since as the name suggests it comes from England and not everyone in America is English and furthermore, if we do choose to speak it... should we speak "proper English".

American which began with stealing the core language from England is layered with words that other cultures have contributed as well as young people have invented.

Now let me be blunt. As the father of five African American grandchildren and two Asian American children, as well as several white children and grandchildren, we are all Americans, and I am not interested in separate identities. I have no problem with people celebrating their unique traditions and cultural histories, but when you lock them off from the rest of America, you are building walls in a society that is far to divided already.
