The problem with your logic is the facts.

In the first 12 months after Biden took office, people who identify as Democrat or leaning Democrat has dropped 7% and those that identify or lean Republicans have increased 7%. That is huge. And most of the shift is among people of color.

In one respect, you are right about Trump destroying the Republican party and the poster child of that Liz Cheney. The Republican party was dominated by NeoCons under Bush. This is not a criticism of NeoCons, just an observation that they have shrunk to such a small percentge of the party as to be almost insignificant.

Meanwhile, the party today is dominated by "Tea Party" Republicans, Libertarians, and Conservative "Populists". This last group is largely the result of Trump and they dominate the party. They are a diverse group of people racially, ethnically, religiously, but they tend to be "wage workers".

So while many "elitists" Republicans remain "never Trumpers" a multiple of that number are "new" Republicans who previously identified as Democrats. The old Republican party is gone. Key issues like free trade have been replaced with fair trade. Open borders have been replaced with secure borders. The anti union additude of past Republicans is now being echoed by Democratic CEOs like Howard Schultz at Starbucks. Trump is far less anti union as unions were fact of life in his business and he was able to work with them.

You are right the old Republican party is almost dead. Virtually, all new Republicans in the House since the 2020 election are either minorities, women, or both with the exception of one veteran.

In the midst of the January 6th Hearings, Trump has higher favorability ratings than Biden!. Personally, I hope Trump does not run for President, but his support among workers is likely to keep increasing as they watch their wages eroded by Biden's inflation.

Trump can be a real jerk, but he picks his policies carefully and they appeal to workers. Biden's has let the progressive liberals take him down a path that few Americans share, especially people of color who tend to be socially conservative and more inclined to support policies that cause real wages to rise rather than inflation to rise.

The elite are laughing at Trump and his supporters, looking down their noses at him and his supporters and this disdain is not lost on them. Before Trump, the Republican party was dying, it was a white conservative party and it was doomed... the new Republican party has been reshaped and the once negative demographics have been totally turned around with the Democrats increasingly being comprised of east and west coast progressives and not much more.
