The premise of Joy Behar's comment are that "black people" don't have guns. With respect to legally owned guns, 35% of whites own guns vs 23% of non-whites. Sadly, not enough information is known regarding illegal acquired guns other than the fact they account for most of the gun violence.

We should definitely make it illegal to obtain a gun illegally... and therein lies the problem with gun laws... sounds stupid, because it is.

What Behar fails to mention is that the vast majority of gun violence happens within the community that people live.

So an increase in minority owned guns would likely result in soaring gun violence rates in minority neighborhoods. Still a serious problem, but not likely to trigger the response Behar claims.
