The argument that abortion is not a religious issue is simple. It is a civil rights issue. Study the Roe v Wade decision. Nothing in it is about religious beliefs, the decision of the Supreme Court was plain and simple. All humans “at conception” (yes it say that) are human. It does not bother to debate the religious meaning of that.
Instead it immediately focuses on competing rights between the mother and the unborn baby and it determined that the mother’s right to privacy prevailed over the baby’s right to life prior to the baby being viable. While there may not be a “consensus” on anything, societies do establish ground rules around principles… our society core principles include the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness…
But when rights “compete” with one another, the courts have to decide which right prevails. If you steal my property (I have property rights), I do not have the right to shoot you (your right to life). If you threaten my life (my right to life), I do have the right to shoot you (your right to life). Notice, in both cases competing rights compete and one prevails based on the situation.
As for racism, the idea of pro life being racist, where the outcome of the pro life movement would be to increase birth rates among African Americans relative to other races is simply stupid and so not worthy of a response other than to point out the sheer stupidity of the comment.
