That simply is not true. You read that somewhere and believed it.

According to Sandra Joshel, author of Slavery in the Roman World, “chattel slavery” is defined as, “individual human beings are owned as property and treated as commodities that can be used, bought and sold, willed, given or lent” for that this classified that people can now own other people. In ancient Greece chattel slavery began to arise, according to N.R.E Fisher, just after the reforms Solon introduced into Athenian law.

Chattel slavery has existed since ancient times. I am sorry that whoever convinced you that chattel slavery was "new" to the "New World" lied to you, probably to manipulate you and it appears to have worked.

Sadly, your ancestors probably participated in it. Regarding my ancestors. They came to the US in the early 1900s. Prior to then, we have traced them back to Germany to around the year 1200 and there is no evidence they owned slaves. Sorry to burst your bubble.

IF you have African blood in you, then there is high probably your ancestors did own slaves as the practice was common in Africa for centuries. Does that mean your ancestors were "savage"?

Long before, the demand for slaves existed in North America, slaves were being sold by Arab slave traders into the Islamic world. That is why when the time came, that slaves were imported into the Americas, a ready market existed, and slavers knew where to acquire them.

Sorry reality does not fit with your narrative.

Bottom line, slavery is bad. It was a global institution and people of all races participated in it. There really was not anything unique about slavery in the new world except perhaps the fact that slaves were "imported". Even then the initial slaves were not imported from Africa, but rather India, which is why there is such a large ethnic Indian population in a handful of places in North and South America.

If you are going to pontificate on slavery, then please do a bit more research and be careful not to embrace a biased perspective. Use your common sense, slavery was profitable and sadly that caused evil people to embrace. Those evil people are not distinguished by the skin color only by their greed and willingness to profit from human slavery.

Again, as noted, this practice continues today, and you have a chance to stand up against it. My daughter raises money every year to support efforts to end human trafficking... We contribute annually towards her efforts. Finally, no need to "lash" out at someone you don't know and accuse them of something that you have no basis to assert.

Anyway, I think we are done. Have a great day. And consider donating money to the various organizations fighting human trafficking today. Make a difference.

How about you... are you putting your treasure where your mouth is?
