Sorry, your article is "fake" news. There is zero, nada, nothing in the bill that prevents peaceful protest, which is precisely the point of protesting. There is a lot in the bill that limits what you can do with regard to personal intimidation, violence, property destruction, defacing property, etc.

And yes, while I abhor racism and my grandchildren are African American, someone that defaces a government monument or private property is not protesting, they are committing vandalism. If people want to peacefully protest the presence of the statue or legally organize to pass legislation to remove it, that is how it is done in America.

As an ICU registered nurse, would you kill a member of the KKK if he or she were in your ICU unit or is that not an appropriate way to express your disgust for what the person stands for? I live in California and the violence and property destruction is getting so bad that even big corporate retailers like Walmart and many small businesses are abandoning the cities.

At the end of the day, the failure to maintain law and order hurts the poor and disproportionately minorities. There is "high road" when committing criminal acts in the name of justice.

And for the record, I feel the protestors and January 6th that rioted deserve criminal penalties. They might have had fair grievances based on the courts not willing to hear their suits... but fair grievances or not, does not give someone the right to trespass, commit property destruction, ignore law enforcement, and commit acts of violence.

The behavior... not the cause... determines whether something is criminal. Finally, with respect to defunding the police advocated by such groups as BLM, they don't represent African Americans... 80% of whom do not want funding of law enforcement cut by one penny and large percentage of that 80% want police funding increased.

Time for everyone to realize ideology does not justify violence regardless of whose side you are on... period. I wish we had a governor like DeSantis... it is so bad here in California that the cities are becoming unsafe, and the citizens are moving away. One of the places they are moving is Florida!
