So, in your court situation, did the defense appeal the verdict on the grounds that either the verdict was racist or the sentencing outside the guidelines.

Has the judge been referred to the independent commission that addresses these issues. New York has put in place a host of procedures to address systemic judicial racism. Besides the independent commission that examines evidence of institutional racism in the state court system, New York uses a panel of judges of color to evaluate verdicts involving Black and Latino defendants. The state also audits the composition of the judges to ensure the "mix" of judges conforms to the state's population.

Nothing is perfect, but against this backdrop it is hard to claim the New York justice system is systematically racist. That does not mean, an individual judge might exercise personal bias, but it hard to think that the judge will continue to escape the review procedures in place in the state. Not to mention with a black Attorney General, that the AG would not look into cases of alleged racism by judges.

I think if you have the statistics to back up your claim of judicial racism in your area, you should send them to the AG and ask for the judge to be investigated. The procedures exist to address racism in the court judicial process if people speak up.
