Silly. I am not saying Santos did not lie, nor am I deflecting. I am making the point, that given the record of politicians if you are surprised, they lied, then you are naive. I don't think Santos's lies are more egregious than many other politicians. It is sad that politicians feel compelled to lie and I suspect that is because a recent study has confirmed that "lying works" (most of the time).
But frankly, if I were a voter in the district, I would be less worried about what lies he told to get elected and more worried about how he serves my district as a representative. If he fails in that duty, I would vote him out, if he serves well in that duty... all would be forgiven.
I am over 60 years old and I can't remember a politician that did not lie. So, at the end of the day, how they vote on legislation is more important to me than embellishing who they are.
So, are you calling for Warren's resignation? I find comparing how someone responds to similar offenses by politicians they support are the true measure of their feelings on an issue. If you don't care that Warren lied about her heritage, then you really don't care that Santos lied other than it being a way to try to leverage him out of his seat.
