Seriously? I don’t even know if these social networks existed then and I certainly was not on them, so pretty hard to have said something at the time.

On the general question of recycling Washington bureaucrats, my opinion is that a President, especially one new to Washington, probably needs a limited number of ex Washington staff to advise him on Washington and how things work. But those people should be kept to a minimum in order to reduce the “swamp effect”.

Trump may in his usual bombastic way have irritated people with his use of the term “Office of the former President”, but Clinton and Obama are the two Presidents in my lifetime (going back to Eisenhower) that have leveraged their former position as President for economic gain and political power most effectively. Time will tell whether Trump can match them. In general, I don’t believe Presidents including Trump should do this, but the this thread supposes that somehow Trump was first… he was not.
