People had unlimited wants in Roman times, Egyptian times, Adam and Eve had everything and still they wanted what they did not have.

Meanwhile, those contented factory workers in the past, formed unions and went on strike on a regular basis because they wanted more (and probably deserved more).

The axiom is a far more proven fact, than things like "climate change" which are harder to reproduce in a controlled testing environment (which includes the absence of "advertising".

That is not to say that advertising can't be used to create "specific demand" for one product over another. Milton Friedman did an excellent job showing how advertising can by used to "direct" people's desires... but that is different from the underlying desire for more. So, I understand your confusion.

Scarcity

One of the defining features of economics is scarcity, which deals with how people satisfy unlimited wants and needs with limited resources. Scarcity affects the monetary value people place on goods and services and how governments and private firms decide to distribute resources.
