Our minister preached a sermon on the importance of knowing what the underlying Hebrew words of the Bible truly mean relative to the English translations which simply cannot capture them.

For example, the fact that man and soil derive from the same root word in Hebrew...

So, Adam (the name of the first human) is derived from Adamah (the soil). Communicates a much more intimate relationship between man and the soil than saying Adam and earth.

I think what your conclusion fails to embrace is that God. Even with all the flawed translations, manages through the Bible to reveal who He is.

God message to man comes through. Perhaps the Bible is designed that way on purpose, God's message is so simple in spite of our attempts to make it complex.

We may not appreciate some of the nuances, but I see those nuances as unimportant.

God uses the Bible as an introduction on which each of us proceeds to build a personal relationship with God.
