One of the attributes of the Russian people has been their ability to accept hardship. And so, more challenging for the Russians than a shortage of consumer goods due to trade sanctions will be a shortage of key components needed to produce their weapons. Some of them will come through Iran and perhaps even China, but those parts may not work with their existing systems and so some modifications will be necessary.

Furthermore, Russia will likely have to revert to Soviet era weapons which don't require these sophisticated parts. While Ukraine will be fighting the war with some of the best weapons NATO has.

To the extent Ukraine's army slowly develops battlefield superiority, Russian will have to trade more and more soldiers' lives to maintain their invasion of Ukraine. The loss of son, fathers, brothers, uncles at some point will betray Putin's lies about Ukraine and its people. Like other failed actions of the past, there is a clock running on Putin and eventually, that clock will run out of time.
