Nothing done in the past remotely justifies Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Russia should leave.

Russia has more land than any other nation on the planet and not enough people. Its population is in steep decline and it could benefit from immigration especially by ethnic Russians. So, instead of invading Ukraine, invite the ethnic Russians to resettle in Russia as your family did. And as Germany did when Germans were being discrimated againt in many eastern European countries.

There is no justification for what Russia is doing... no matter what happened in the past. Likewise, there is no evidence at all that Russian chemical weapons can tell an ethnic Ukrainian from a Russian. Or that Russian artillery and aerial bombs know Ukrainians from Russians. Or that torturing people will help resolve the conflict. So, the only responsible thing for Russia to do is leave. My guess is most ethnic Russians would like to Russia leave after Russia's behavior these last few weeks.

Russia will lose in Ukraine eventually. Even if they win, they will lose, the war will simply become a guerilla war. And as Russia adopts more and more genocidal tactics it status as a pariah will only increase. And when Russia is finally forced to leave Ukraine, the scars will be so deep, that Ukraine and Russia reconciliation could take decades maybe centuries to heal.

Russia's response is not going to improve the situation or heal any ethnic hatred that exists in the country and is more likely going to compound it.
