No doubt many would prefer a "different drum major". My choice for 2024 is Nikki Haley, who more closely represents the new and far more diverse Republican party, though I hope she retains Trump's appeal to the working man and woman including the policies that benefit them.

But the question revolved around whether Trump followers were attracted to him as a "cult" figure and I simply do not think that is true for the vast majority of people that vote for Trump.

The problem with broad questions like "Is America headed in the right direction" is that most people will vote "no" and in fact, your 40% number is high, the most current number is 34%.

During Obama's last year in office less than 30% of voters thought Obama was leading the country in the right direction... Yet Obama was leading the country in the opposite direction as Trump. So both directions were wrong?

Or does that simply mean most people can find fault with government and its politicians regardless of which way the country is headed...

I think the election will be pretty close... and I suspect one "swing" state could make all the difference. I also think we won't know who won on November 3rd, which will be quite disconcerting... But if Biden wins I know I will and I know many others that will move towards a "lockdown" to protect our assets from his tax plan. So then the question becomes "whose" checkbook will fund his huge government fiscal stimulus proposals.

If you are young look in the mirror... If you have children, look at them. There is no "free lunch". And every country that has run down the road outlined in Biden's plan for America ends up on "a diet". You can only stuff your self at the "debt" table for so long before you have to "pay the bill". Intuitively, working people know this... that is why they support Trump...
