Most red states would be happy leaving the blue states alone if they would simply reciprocate and leave the red states alone. The abortion ruling is a great example. Red states are not telling blue states what their new abortion laws need to be, they just want to be left alone to pass their own laws, meanwhile the blue states are scrambling to figure out how to project their laws on red states.

Typically, red state policies don't need the Federal government to impose their policies on other states. But blue states need the Federal government's monetary printing press and its ability to impose regulations on all states or the steady stream of people leaving blue states for red states will become a flood as the businesses in red seek the lower taxes and fewer regulations found in red states. When the businesses move, the jobs follow them.

I live in a blue state, California, and our state is becoming a disaster. Trump largely left California alone and all Biden has done to help is send billions of dollars that the Federal government simply printed up in order to spur inflation. At the same time, our governor and Biden have contributed to gasoline prices making it gas expensive that people cannot afford to travel for work or recreation.

As I look out on the ocean from my back patio, I am reminded of how much I owe the state and Federal government for the beautiful view of cargo ships waiting to unload. First, it was various mandates that created a logistics problem, then just as things were improving, the state passed a law forcing forcing independent truckers to become employees and they are really mad about it boycotting the ports.

Our country was "designed" for states to be largely left alone... remember how divided we were when we first formed between small and large states, slave states and free states, coastal states and frontier states. If we stick with the Constitution, we can handle division... we were designed for it. But federalization is not just a problem for our country but it is the source of problems in any country large enough to have distinct regional differences.

I thought diversity was good... why can't we have diversity among the states?
