We worked our way through college. For some of us that took years. We lived in flop houses drove cars where the doors flew open when you went around corners. We survived the displacement brought about by computers in the workplace. We saw millions of our jobs shipped overseas. And in spite of that, we spent a good deal of what we earned to give our children… educations, computers, refuge after college to get on their feet…
We watch our children take on the same challenges we did. Most of them are succeeding, some are not. They even think their complaints about lack of upward mobility are original and new… the more things change, the more they stay the same…
