Many countries have two levels of reading and writing. The masses learn the simple level of the language and scholars learn the more complex and descriptive level of the language. This is especially true of languages that use "symbols" for writing.
I believe the US is following that trend. At some level, we have always had that, except that it took the form of how much vocabulary a person knew and used and how complicated their sentence structure was.
But I see a future were "emojis" and other "symbols" dominate communication with a few words slipped in where emojis don't provide the necessary information. A kind of modern-day hieroglyphics.
While scholars and scientists will operate in a more precise world of communication and continue to use the English language to communicate, other will resort to largely symbols and emojis.
