Looking over a longer period of time, 11 black artists have won Album of the Year since 1957. That would 17.5% of the time. So, if we begin to think in terms of equity, five black men should return their Grammys and three of those Grammys should be given to black women.

So, which black men would you take back their Grammy's from and which three women would you give them to. Meanwhile, Hispanics would most like have the right to two of the Grammys black men gave back plus a few from "white" winners.

Alternatively, Album of the Year could be purely objective. Most sales. In that case, I think Whitney Houston would be the only Black woman winner of Album of the Year.

To be clear, black women have made a huge impact on music. I grew up listening to The Supremes, Tin Turner, and many other great black women artists, but they were never my favorite, but always among the top.

Interestingly, groups rather than solo artists often win Album of the Year and we simply do not have many women groups these days. Though there have women artists among some of the groups that have won... Fleetwood Mac being one of my favorite groups with Stevie Nicks.
