Look at the 9/11 math. How many people died in response to the killing of several thousand Americans? There are times when "proportional violence" is called for and other times when a display of "shock and awe" is called for.

Israel has opted for the latter in this case, like America did after 9/11.

The question that needs to be addressed is how Israel can destroy Hamas and the willingness of the Palestinian people to support organizations like Hamas? If Israel can succeed in those goals, then a lasting peace is possible. Again, it is not a question of "retaliation" math.

Regarding the relationship between Jews and African Americans, both groups have experienced racism and discrimination. Van Jones is correct, when Blacks were suffering in this country, the Jews, generally speaking, (not every individual Jew) took personal risks and spent their own funds, fighting for the civil rights of African Americans. Denying that is silly. How African Americans respond to that truth is a personal decision for African American.

And so likewise, it is true Van Jones speaks only for those blacks that share his views. I hope more blacks stand up and declare themselves as individuals that think for themselves and lash out at black leaders who claim they speak for all blacks.

Blacks won't truly be free until they feel free to act without fear of being cancelled because they don't hold the politically correct view on a subject.

When leaders on the left and right begin supporting each other's right to an opinion, the black community will begin to enjoy the true freedoms that all humans should have.
