Less qualified at the margin based on drop out rates. Look at average GPA rates and college entrance scores for elite schools and cross reference them with drop out rates. This is especially true in medical schools where admissions nationally are capped at a fraction of applicants. Fairness is subjective only you base it on objective criteria.

For example when politicians claim the rich do not pay their fair share of taxes what is the objective criteria for that statement. If universities use skin color to achieve equity then by definition it is not fair if legally equal opportunity does not allow discrimination based on skin color.
