If progressives were really afraid of Project 2025, rather than simply using it to fearmonger, they would pressure their Congressional representatives from progressive states to support Trump's policies to weaken the power of the federal government to issue federal mandates. They would then pressure their Congressional representatives to reduce federal spending to reduce the influence of the federal government on states. And lastly, support strong state and local government, so that progressives as well as conservatives could enact policies at a state level and then let the states compete for investments, citizens, and business development. People would gravitate to the state that most closely fit with their beliefs and values. Instead, it seems progressives are trying to undermine Trump and any changes he might make until they can regain power and turn America into a centralized authoritarian state.

Keep in mind, nothing prevents an authoritarian state from emerging than the distribution of power and the competition of ideologies that forces radical views to collapse in the face of citizen "choice". Rather than worrying about Project 2025, progressives should stop worrying about trying to impose their views on others or have others impose their views on them and instead allow citizens to decide what they want.
