Identity politics cuts both ways. In order for racial riots, religious riots, and other riots based on identity to end, you must reach a point of assimilation in a population where people stop seeking political power based on their race, religion or other defining group identity.

This becomes very difficult under a neo-Marxist socialist ideology which is built on the platform of group identity with groups labeled as oppressors and victims.

Humans tend to be tribal and only enormous efforts by a nation's educational system aimed at building a shared national identity can overcome the tribal distinctions that lead to violence.

As one person noted below, even fans of two different teams who share a common skin color, religion, and other values can resort to violence against one another in the name of their "team" identity.

It is silly to promote "white" racism as any different than any other form of racism or bigotry. "White" racism in Europe is very similar to tribal bigotry in Africa or ethnic bigotry in Asia or religious bigotry in the Middle East. Wherever you go, bigotry emerges, because humans are tribal.

The more problematic issue for the world is that due to increasing migration and immigration, "tribes" that were once kept separate, now find themselves sharing space. That situation cannot "stand" or as Lincoln said, "a house divided against itself will fail".

So, where does that leave us. Either we will ultimately end with the more successful tribal group expelling, enslaving, or suppressing the less successful tribal groups or leaders among the various tribes will put in place a system by which the tribes "integrate"...

First, at the legal level, through laws aimed at outlawing discrimination including affirmative action, next, at the social level, mainly through children growing up beside one another in schools and learning they have more in common than they have differences, and finally, biological integration as proximity leads to mixed marriages between men and women of opposing tribes.

However, for the leaders of separatist movement there are tremendous gains to be had at the personal level, that make any but the most determined and systemic efforts by a government to integrate the tribes living within its borders capable of success.

However, at the time we need government most focused at integrating tribes into one nation indivisible, we have politicians jockeying for power based on division. Perhaps there is too much "profit" in division to hope for a peaceful transition to an integrated society, but on the bright side, "sex" given enough time will achieve what "ideology and politics" can't... it just takes a lot longer.
