I understand the emotions we just did not express them.
Our team was over 25% black and played during the years following the civil rights riots of the late 60s. Two of our opponents were like LSU almost all black and a few were almost all white. A riot broke out between fans several times over the four years, hence the police escorts. So I understand racial tension.
I also understand the LSU team’s anger over the dual White House invitation. Whether Dr Biden was playing racial politics or race was not a factor in her decision, it does not work that way. It diminishes their win and treats the White House invitation as a participation event.
The women on LSU’s team should stand tall and alone. It’s win or go home, not lose and go to the White House. My reference was simply about expressing emotion and how some teams exude it and others suppress it.
