I think the bigger issue is Harris is not authentic.
I think men and women in the black community who have experienced Harris first-hand have made some pretty condemning statements about her lack of empathy towards the black community and single black mothers specifically when she was AG of California.
These testimonies can be found on YouTube and the facts appear to support them.
It seems like the "black" community is saying enough. They are saying to politicians like Harris who is 60 years old and have careers spanning more than 30 years, what have you done for me over the last 30 years to convince me that you will really represent African Americans as President. And with that question, you can hear a "pin" drop.
Interestingly, Trump can point to his criminal justice reform bill. The improvement in black unemployment and a host of other actions that did help black communities. He also provided long term funding for HBOCs. Is Trump perfect, "hell no". But at least in the four short years of his political career, he has something to show.
My brother was mayor of Jersey City. The first Republican in 75 years. When asked how he won the black vote, his response was simply. African Americans want what we all want: good schools, low crime, good paying jobs, and to be treated with respect. It really is not that hard. Harris had a chance to do that, she didn't.
This election black men like every other citizen are faced with a simple decision, whether they think Harris or Trump will do more for their community than the other one. If history is any predictor, then expect Trump to do something, and Harris to do nothing. And neither to do enough.
