I think more and more Republicans recognize the tremendous service Trump provided the nation, but also that the time has come to move on to younger leadership. Hopefully, the Republicans won't repeat the mistake of Democrats, who largely elevated octogenarians to the top of their party and largely excluded younger leaders from the opportunity to lead. Now the Democratic party is bereft of younger leadership and trying desperately to come up with some.

Trump was a bully, womanizer, and egotist, but he his policies and reshaping of the Republican party to one that favors workers and minorities is evidenced by the rise of minority and woman leaders within the party as well as the massive growth of the party primarily due to Hispanics joining.

2022 was the first year in a decade where the national popular vote favored Republicans. It is hard for Trump to bow out, but if things continue as they are... he might be forced to.
