I do think Tucker Carlson has taken a strong stance against gender affirming surgery. That stance is shared by many groups including many gay groups, physician groups, and other civic groups, who have spoken out about the fact that many young people think they are "trans" when it turns out they are gay or just confused and depressed. One recent study suggests that twice as many people identity as trans as should be expected based on past studies.
Unclear, is whether the trans counts were low in the past due to social pressure or high in the present due to social pressure. What is certain is that many young people are beginning to express regret over their decisions to have gender affirming surgery, raising the issue whether it is ethical or moral to do such surgeries on children or whether surgeries should wait till children have completed puberty.
There are no easy answers and those who presume there are, do so largely based on ideology and not science.
