Crime declined for decades, true statement. Social scientists have studied this phenomenon to understand it why… those studies point to several converging drivers…

  1. while there were “racist” elements in many of the crime bills in 1990s they did in fact lead to a steady reduction of crime. Which is to be expected since a significant amount of crime especially violent crime is committed by repeat offenders… incarcerate them and they are unable to commit additional crimes. Ideally, rehabilitation is preferable, but absent rehabilitation, incarceration will reduce crime and violent crime rates. Recent changes in parole laws, sentencing guidelines, reduce police presence and more restricted rules of engagement have all lead to more violent criminals being on the streets longer all other things being equal. If you can find a single study that disputes these conclusion please link me to it… I am always interested in learning… but I want a hard study.
  2. The aging of America. Numerous studies confirm that as a population ages all things being the same, violent crime decreases. One reason why African American crime rates are higher than whites is simply the average age of an African American male is 28 while the average age of a white male is in his 50s. So as the nation has “aged” crime has declined as a whole but the percentage of crime committed by African Americans has increased.

Other variables that impact local crime rates are poverty, employment, civil disturbance like evidenced in last year’s riots, law enforcement deterrence and drug and substance related crime. The recent change in crime levels beginning in 2020 have been attributed to the combined issues of higher unemployment, the pandemic, significant changes in local policing polices, reduced police funding, and ideological violence.

While many Democrats are claiming that as soon as the pandemic passes that crime rates will resume their downward trends which would be true if only the “aging” of the population trends mattered… but that is simply not the case and never has been.

Some Democrats believe in border security especially those living near the border. But it is simply untrue to say the policies of Biden are not responsible for the surge of illegal immigration at the Border. I talk to Border agents all the time, how about you? I live in southern California and you must live far from the border and drinking tainted Kool Aid to think Democrats are serious about securing the border. Spend your next vacation on a border town and ask people what impact they see concerning Biden’s policies on illegal immigration.

The Democrats were quick to call in thousands of troops to secure the Capitol and put up barb wire fences… if those things don’t work why did they do it. All of that to protect themselves from 67 years old grandmothers rioting in the building… have you looked at the demographics of the people who rioted and their past criminal records… compared to the statistics coming from the border… please don’t shoot from the hip… it undermines what you are saying…

Sadly, your comment regarding Trump’s tax reform bill reflect you are a mirror of the media and not doing your own research… If Trump’s tax cuts are the cause for the rising deficits one would expect tax revenues to go down… but in fact they went up at a faster rate than before the tax cuts…

Where I would agree with you is that Republicans were not much better than the Democrats at controlling spending… but now that Biden has taken office, if he gets his spending proposals passed, government spending will increase by over $1 trillion per year. That makes Trump, Obama, and GW Bush look like cheap skates…

This link was done in 2019 before the pandemic. Interestingly, government revenues went up in 2020 and 2021 as expected. But expenditures exploded… so how do you explain the boom in government spending be based on government tax policy?

US Federal Budgetary Spending by Year — Polidiotic

Sadly, your response reflects that you draw your information from the biased media… I have come to distrust the media on both the right and left and prefer to look for confirmation in reported government data… you should do likewise or you will be a “victim” of manipulation…
