At the core of all this violence is the fact that increasingly people don't see others as fellow Americans but as something else.

As our leaders promote political division, racial division, and class warfare, what emerges is an "us against them" mentality.

Those policemen did not see the person they beat to death as a fellow American or even a fellow African American, but rather as the enemy undeserving of any rights as a fellow American.

The simple failure to identify those that are not "like" you as equally human, fellow Americans, who have the right to hold different opinions and be heard, begins the process of dividing the country into warring tribes.

So, each person must ask themself, can they see those with whom they disagree as fellow Americans who have a right to input into how our country should operate, who have a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and who have property rights and not as "an enemy".
