Always keep in mind people are different. I was always attracted to women that did not have "a lot of curves", while my son was the opposite. And women are the same way.

Some women want many with hairy chests and others are turned off by body hair. Simply said, the goal in life is not appeal to everyone (that simply is not possible nor desirable). The goal in life is fine that special person, that you can have a lifelong relationship with and who loves you for not only who you are but how you look (though frankly, the former is so much more important than the latter).

When people express what they like and that is not you... so what? Now you know two thinks about the person, first, he is "not the one" and secondly, he is not very sensitive.

It seems far too many people are trying to change how other people think rather than to realize they are never going to be everyone's "cup of tea". Ideally, people are sensitive, but "ideal" is not the real world. So as long as we all tolerate one another, that might be the best we can hope for from society as we build an inner circle of people, who love us and like us, just the way we are.
