I agree educators should not be biased or bigoted or ideologues. While two of my children are biracial and five of grandchildren are biracial, I have never heard any of them suggest they felt their teachers were racist.
Instead the most consistent refrain I hear is that teachers are bigoted towards conservatives and penalize children who don't express progressive liberal ideology in the papers they write.
I guess the bright part of this bigoted behavior on the part of teachers is that my children have all chose to pursue business, science, and engineering degrees, where ideology does not matter but…
Every time the government passes legislation that provides funding to some group often those in need and other times their supporters, they fail to mention “the other half of the story”, where is all this largesse coming from.
For example, let say I walk up to you put a gun in your face take your wallet and give all the money to a poor guy on the corner. I then go out and tell everyone how I helped a poor guy on the corner. Is that the whole story? How about the part where I put a gun in your…
We can all agree that racism is bad. Treating people “badly” because of the color of their skin is wrong. But how is it acceptable to exhibit hostile behavior towards people based on the “color of their politics”. How can that be okay by anyone that prides themselves on diversity and open mindedness.
In this woke culture, which seems to embrace censorship, this constant use of both outright and micro aggressions to those that don’t share one’s political ideology has all the same markings as “racism”. …
As Biden urges Congress to pass the stimulus package, he emphasized that we “don’t have time to waste”. Yet that is exactly what Pelosi did during the last weeks of the Trump presidency. Only a partisan or idiot could not make the connection that Pelosi’s delays have added to today’s urgency as more and more Americans slipped under the poverty line as the economy burned while Pelosi played her fiddle. Pelosi put clearly put politics and her hate of Trump ahead of the nation and Biden’s declaration of that we have reached an urgent state unknowingly confirmed this.
Even weeks…
When you get right down to it, progressive liberalism is the most divisive ideology to infect American politics in more than one hundred years. But the issue is not progressive liberalism per se, but rather the cramming of it down the throats of US citizens who want no part of it.
If you support progressive liberalism, that is your right and there are plenty of states that embrace it. You should move to one of those states where you can be happy as a clam until the state begins to collapse economically and socially as California is presently. But still…
Even if you embrace progressive liberal ideology, you still have to ask yourself why it does not seem to work. I live in California. At one time California was the envy of the country with our amazing climate, beautiful geography, world class universities, booming economy, accepting culture, etc. It was nirvana or at least as close as it comes to on earth.
But two things happened that triggered the downward spiral that is California today. First, for over ten years, we have been for all intents and purposes a “one party” state, something Democrats are working hard to impose on…
As the Democrats consider proposing to convert DC into a state, it is worth considering why DC is not a state and where it came from.
James Madison persuasively argued in the Federalist papers among other places that the nation’s capitol needed to be distinct from states. There are many reasons for this, but at the end of the day, states have interests that differ from the country as is so often illustrated in the almost daily debates that take place in Congress. …
The Democratic party came into being under Andrew Jackson, a slave owner. It was a union between the “Bourbon Democrats” and poorer Americans especially rural farmers. Bourbon Democrats were the rich and powerful, who realized that they needed voters to have political power.
For most of the pre Civil War period, the Democratic party’s power base was in the South and its leadership was comprised of powerful wealthy Southerners often with direct or indirect ties to slavery. …
Back when Democrats controlled the Senate, Harry Reid changed the rules to allow a simple majority to confirm Federal judges. Fast forward and now the effect of that short sighted decision can be seen in how quickly the courts can become incredibly partisan. But do Americans want a “partisan” court, when we observe that in other countries we call them “Kangaroo Courts?.
The previous 60 vote requirement tied to the filibuster forced a level of compromise with judges that ensured that judges were not to partisan. The simple majority requirement has totally destroyed that important control designed to keep the…
The explosion of violence and property damage in many cities threatens to turn them into “barren” commercial zones. Previous riots were met with years of abandonment of inner cities and increased security in other key commercial areas of the city. Over time, cities healed as entrepreneurs saw an opportunity to make some money by setting up a small business and selling to the urban population.
As long as cities housed office buildings and residents, the demand for products and services insured eventually businesses would return. But the pandemic combined with the pillaging of stores and lock down of restaurants and…
